HIV/STI Testing

You must be HIV-Negative to start PrEP, this is VERY important.
 

If you would like to get an HIV test in the Interior of BC there are a few options:

HIV Self-Testing Kits

Available at any pick-up location that carries the self-testing kits. In the Okanagan, they are currently located at Living Positive Resource Centre. Available throughout the Interior of BC. Free and confidential. They can arrange to travel to you and provide testing, resources, and support around HIV.


OPTIONS FOR SEXUAL HEALTH

HOSPITAL EMERGENCY
If the above options do not exist in your area, you can also get a test at your local hospital emergency. This may not be the most desirable location but is a service that is available - even if it's not an emergency. They also have PEP available if you believe you have been infected with HIV within the last 72hrs - which is an emergency, as PEP (not PrEP) can be used after exposure to HIV.

PrEP Options

Tele-PrEP

The Tele-PrEP program provides a convenient and innovative way to access PrEP. Tele-PrEP providers are licensed healthcare professionals who can set you up with PrEP services via your phone, tablet, or computer. Tele-PrEP providers follow federal HIPAA guidelines in protecting your privacy and confidential health information, as well as, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) best practice guidelines for PrEP services.
